Scott Perau - 7-12 Choir Director

Scott Perau is in his fifth year as the 7-12 Vocal Music Teacher in Somerset, WI.  He is a graduate of UW-River Falls, where he studied Voice and Choral Conducting under Dr. J.W. Park. Prior to teaching in Somerset, Scott taught in the Boyceville School District for one year.  Under Mr. Perau's instruction, the Somerset High School Choral Department has nearly doubled its numbers, has expanded from one curricular choir to two, has placed many students into the W.S.M.A. State Honors Choirs, and was selected to perform at the 2015 W.C.D.A. State Convention.  This is a testament to the wonderful teamwork and collaboration of the entire music department in the Somerset School District.

One of Scott's favorite genres of music is a cappella, and he is very active in the Barbershop Harmony Society.  He has performed and competed with many barbershop quartets and choruses, including a youth chorus that he founded and directed in college called "Wissota Voices."  He has been a guest festival clinician for multiple Youth in Harmony day camps, and formerly directed the "North Star Chorus," based out of St. Paul, MN, and serves as an interim director for the "Vallee de Croix" women's chorus based out of Stillwater, MN.  Scott also was the bass section leader and a warm-up leader of the International Silver Medalist "Great Northern Union Chorus" for nearly five years.

In addition to teaching at Somerset, Scott is the Music Director of First Congregational Church of Christ in River Falls, WI where he directs the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and Worship Ensemble.  He is also a certified adjudicator for the Wisconsin School Music Association.  In his free time Scott enjoys fishing, sports, and spending time with his wife Tricia, and children Silas and Hazel.
